CALF HYPERTROPHY

The bulky appearance of the calves is caused by hypertrophy (increase and growth of muscle cells) of the gastrocnemius muscles (leg triceps), which can result from prolonged wear of high heels and sports. It could also have been just genetics. The calf area contains a layer of hypodermal fat, but does not account for much of the calf size, hence liposuction is not usually effective.

Treatments

The “K-Calf Reduction Treatment”

The calf slimming treatment involves a few injections of Botulinum Toxin to the calf muscle(s), and the circumference of the calves will start to reduce noticeably. It could block peripheral motor nerves to the leg triceps, which has the effect of reducing the muscle bulk, and thus giving a more streamlined contour to the leg. The treatment is simple and akin an insect bite, as some would call it. Thus, it has no need for anaesthesia. The optimal result comes after approximately three months.

Botulinum A injection

It is a neurotoxin naturally occurring protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It is potent neuromodulators used for aesthetic and therapeutic applications. They weaken or paralyze skeletal muscles by inhibiting neurotransmission, resulting in muscle relaxation.
