BOTULINUM TOXIN

It is a neurotoxin naturally occurring protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It is potent neuromodulators used for aesthetic and therapeutic applications. They weaken or paralyze skeletal muscles by inhibiting neurotransmission, resulting in muscle relaxation.

It can be used to help relax facial muscles and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also used to treat migraine and hyperhidrosis. The amount of toxin used in treatments is minimal and extremely safe.

There are a few brands such as Xeomin, Nabota, Botox, Dysport and others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Botulism toxin safe?

Yes, when administered by a trained medical practitioner with a registered license to practice. The product used has undergone testing to ensure its safety for use for this treatment. Botulinum toxin is a very safe, effective treatment not only used in cosmetic clinics, but also for a number of medical conditions, including migraine and excessive sweating.

Will I look ‘frozen’?

The aim of the licensed treatment is to significantly reduce the movement of the muscles causing expression lines (dynamic lines).  Successful treatment may not cause the expression lines themselves to disappear completely.  To do this, they inject just enough to weaken and relax the targeted muscles without affecting other muscles. This allows patients to maintain their natural facial expressions.

How long will the effects last?

Effects will be seen between 1-4 days after treatment and will take full effect by 2 weeks. Results tend to last 3-4 months. Duration of your toxin will depend on your metabolism and treatment dosage (or the number of units you receive).

Is there any downtime?

Most people return to the everyday activities immediately.
